Intermodal Supervisor

Main Purpose of the Job

• Drive process optimization and cost reduction for all Intermodal activities within the country/
• Ensure availability of transport capacity for short-term and long-term transport demand of Maersk Line.
• Develop Intermodal products within the country to support overall cluster strategy.
• Ensure all systems and processes required within Intermodal are functioning correctly and up to date

Main Responsibilities

• Support the requirements of the Line, aiming for lowest cost position while reaching service quality targets:
• Determine requirements from Intermodal suppliers and vendor selection
• Manage interruptions to service deliverables
• Manage non-standard or exceptional customer intermodal requirements
• Configure optimal overall intermodal structure of the Cluster.
• Monitor, analyze, and report costs, seeking improvement opportunities while promoting identified best practice.
• Manage quality and consistency of delivered intermodal service levels to customers, while taking advantage of opportunities to improve customer relationships
• Contingency planning for foreseeable operational challenges so our customers are unaffected.

Key Objectives
• Continuously investigate ways and means to reduce overall Intermodal costs while ensuring service levels are not compromised
• Ensure, prior to decision-making and with a view to budgets, that proper business/economic evaluations are made.
• Take initiative for proper, timely actions in all respects
• Ensure smooth, unified efforts for the benefit of internal and external customers


Key Competencies/Skills
An outgoing and convincing personality, a sense of urgency, drive and result orientation. Ability to communicate and drive the necessary changes within the organisation as well as persuade external stakeholders into the proper course of action. An inspiring leadership figure, which can engage and motivate the organisation. Previous experience from either of the following: Area Line and Operations, Country Operations, Intermodal Operations, Cost Management or other management functions.

Leadership experience and proven results within Intermodal is an advantage.
